Beauty For Real kindly sent over a lovely package to me a few weeks ago and I’m excited to show you my favorites. I’ve known of BFR for a few years now and have always been a fan of their fabulous lip creams, so it’s nice to reconnect with their brand and products after all this time. Their products are all cruelty-free, paraben-free, and made in the USA. I have some lip and eye products to share with you, so let’s get to the goodies, shall we?!
I was sent two of the Shadow Stx 24-7 Eyeshadow Pencils ($19.00 each) in Midnight Marathon (shimmery brownish bronze) and All Day Latte (shimmery burgundy). These eye pencils come in a swivel packaging, so they don’t require sharpening (there’s a sharpener on the other end, just in case!), making them very easy to use and super travel-friendly. I found the creamy texture to be delightful — it felt soft and light, and glided onto the skin with ease and departed a lovely color payoff that was even, smooth, and pigmented. The formula does dry down to a waterproof and budge-proof finish, so blending needs to be done hurriedly before it sets. I like to use my fingers since the warmth from my hand helps to diffuse the product easier and quicker than a brush. I wore both of these pencils for ten hours (through cooking and chopping an onion, and an afternoon nap) and they lasted the entire time without cracking or fading! The long wearing formula is incredible and it truly does look as beautiful at the end of the day as when it was first applied!
The I-line 24-7 Waterproof Eyeliner Pencils ($14.00 each) come in ten shades and I have three in my possession: Champagne Buzz (shimmery pale gold), Jade (shimmery emerald green), and Black Magic (matte black). These eyeliners have the same waterproof and smudge-proof formula as the eye pencils with a creamy texture that applies on readily and easily. They’re very soft and pigmented, and are effortless to work with.
I did a ten hour wear test where I wore all three eyeliners for an entire day. I discovered that the black pencil was the least long lasting with the color fading on my upper lash lines by the end of the day. The pale gold and green pencils were applied onto my lower lash lines and although, they didn’t smudge and did stay in place, there was some slight disintegration on the outer lower corners due to my eyes getting watery at one point, but overall, I still thought they looked pretty good after such a long period of time. I think these eyeliners will perform just fine if you don’t plan on wearing them for ten hours like I did or have super watery eyes.
The formula aside, my biggest issue with these eyeliners was with the faulty packaging. They have the same convenient automatic packaging as the eyeshadow pencils, but these eyeliners required numerous twists to get the product out and once it swiveled up, it didn’t go back down no matter how much I turned it — it was just stuck there. Luckily, I didn’t swivel the product up too high, or else, the product would have been unusable and wasted. This was the case with all three pencils, so if you’re impatient and don’t want to twist twenty times for the product to come out, this issue might drive you insane.
Moving on to the lip products, I have a lip gloss and two lip creams here. All three lip products have the same transparent packaging with a convenient mirror on the side and a LED light in the black twist-off cap that can be turned on or off using the button at the top. The added mirror and light was a genius idea and great for on-the-go touch-ups!
The Turned On Lip Gloss ($18.00) is a neutral rose with microscopic iridescent shimmers; it has subtle pigmentation to it and gives a highly moisturizing semi-sheer finish. I love the non-sticky formula of this lip gloss, as well as the high-shine and luscious payoff. The peppermint oil gives a slight tingling and cooling sensation for a very mild plumping effect, if any — I didn’t see any noticeable plumpness to my lips, but I love anything with peppermint, so I really enjoyed the minty cool feeling. This gloss lasted about three to four hours before needing reapplication, but was hydrating, soothing, and very comfortable throughout the entire wear time.
The Flash Lip Cream ($18.00) is a lovely medium pink with a high impact, full color coverage. It contains no shimmers, which I love, and is insanely creamy and pigmented. I love the intensity of this color and how opaquely it applies on to give such a beautiful and effortless finish — the payoff is rich, vibrant, non-drying, and very comfortable! I’ve been a fan of these lip creams from day one and I’m reminded again as to why I love them so much — they’re amazing!
The Infrared Lip Cream ($18.00) is a bright and bold orange red. I’m truly obsessed with this shade! One swipe provides a delightfully lightweight, yet amazing creamy color that’s ultra pigmented and smooth.
On the website, the description stated that this is a liquid lipstick and then later said that it’s a lip cream, which was confusing because these two things are completely different and one product can’t be both. This product is definitely not a liquid lipstick! It doesn’t dry down to a flat matte finish like a traditional liquid formula since its creamy texture has a hint of shine that allows for it to remain plush and hydrating throughout wear; “lip cream”, as its name suggests, is the accurate definition of what this product is. I felt the need to clarify that. 🙂
In the makeup look above, I wore the two Shadow Stx 24-7 Eyeshadow Pencils on my lids (All Day Latte all over and on my lower lash line with Midnight Marathon on the inner lid). I also used all three I-line 24-7 Waterproof Eyeliner Pencils (Black Magic on my upper water lines and lash lines with Jade on the outer lower lash line and Champagne Buzz on the tear duct).
