I recently received a lovely package from Cargo Cosmetics and got to try out some awesome products from the brand that I’m super excited to share with you. I have yet to try out anything from Cargo Cosmetics until now, but after falling in love with their Essentials Eyeshadow Palette, I’m quite excited to see if the other products that I got are as wonderful as this palette.
The Essentials Eyeshadow Palette ($34.00 for 10.2 g) was inspired by the hues of urban architecture — hence the beautiful illustration on the cover and shade names — and contains twelve neutral eye colors with both matte and shimmer finishes. The palette also comes with a black eyeliner pencil that is too stiff for my liking and a dual-ended synthetic brush that’s fairly nice, but probably won’t be put to use since I never use brushes that come with palettes. I strongly feel that this palette would be better off without the two additions, but that’s just me, I’ve always loved a clean and sleek palette that showcases only the eye colors.
Right off the bat, the eyeshadows in this palette felt so creamy and soft to the touch, and they swatched beautifully on my arm. The colors performed just as nicely when applied onto the eyes, gliding on effortlessly to give a pigmented and even color payoff that was extremely blend-able and build-able. I read a couple of reviews on the Ulta website of people having issues with blending out these eyeshadows, but I didn’t experience any issues at all with these colors. They’re all very easy to work with, have minimal fall-outs, and are extremely long-lasting. I think the variety of colors in this palette is great, especially if you’re into neutrals or don’t wear a ton of makeup since the color range is highly wearable with all of the basic “essential” shades for blending and smoking out the lash lines. The formula is magnificent — very comparable to the Lorac Pro Palette, which is one of my favorite palettes! I definitely recommend getting this palette, you won’t regret it!
