I follow Cargo Cosmetics on Instagram and was so intrigued when I saw videos of their Swimmables Collection — let’s just say if you wanted to go swimming with makeup on, these products will allow you to do so without any fears! I have two of the matte liquid lipsticks and shimmery eyeshadow sticks, which I’ve been testing out the past few days and have really been enjoying.
The Swimmables Longwear Matte Liquid Lipsticks ($18.00 each) in Brighton and Montauk are two of the more neutral colors in the range of six. These lip colors have a true liquid-to-dry formula with a wet texture that applies on evenly and dries down after a few minutes to a completely matte finish. They give an effortless and smooth application with full color coverage in two coats; the pigmented payoff is very lovely and even though these lipsticks are matte, they weren’t overly drying. I also found this formula to be quite long wearing with minimal eating — the colors faded gradually and steadily, and didn’t crumble or crack throughout the wear time.
With that said, there was one issue that I had with this formula — the stickiness! I’ve never had this problem before with a liquid lipstick — drying, yes, but never sticky — so I was a bit taken aback by it. When I pressed my lips together and then tried to separate them, the product was like an adhesive that bonded my lips together. It was such an unpleasant feeling whenever I tried to talk or open my mouth, so I discovered a way to get rid of the stickiness — pat a setting powder on top! This little trick immediately eliminated the adhesion, so if you don’t mind taking an extra step for a pigmented, weightless, and long lasting matte lip color, then these lipsticks would be worth the try! I really enjoy the non-drying finish and both of these colors are too gorgeous to not love!
Brighton is a warm rusty orange.
Montauk is a cool-toned mauve.
I also received two of the Swimmables Longwear Eyeshadow Sticks ($20.00 each) in Glaicer Bay and Island Bay. These cream eyeshadows have a user-friendly twist-up design, so no sharpening is needed for a simple and convenient application. The two shades that I own are both in a shimmer finish and are said to be water resistant, smudge-proof, and crease-proof. They have a very soft and lightweight consistency that applies on easily and readily to give a beautifully pigmented color payoff; after a few seconds after application, they will set and will not budge, so you’ll have to blend and work quickly. I’m so impressed with the formula of these eye colors and can’t get over the incredible long lasting finish — they stayed put all day, did not fade or crease, and were super easy to work with.
Looking for a product that will withstand heat on hot summer days? These eyeshadow sticks are your new must-haves! They definitely live up to their claims and are perfect for beach days or outdoor events.
Glacier Bay is a nude champagne with a silvery sheen.
Island Bay is a shimmery bronze.
For this makeup look, I’m wearing the Island Bay (lids) and Glacier Bay (inner corners) eyeshadow sticks on my eyes (with addition to colors from Cargo Cosmetics’ You Had Me At Aloha Eyeshadow Palette). On my lips, I’m wearing the beautiful Brighton liquid lipstick (I love this color so much!).
