I’m a sucker for beautiful packaging and nothing screams luxury more than a pretty gold tube of lipstick. My latest Julie Hewett lipsticks are the epitome of beauty and glam. Created by a professional makeup artist and inspired by old Hollywood glamour, these lipsticks have a timeless appeal with a high-performing formula that wears just as beautifully as they look.
I added three new shades to my collection: Kiki (semi-sheer), Michelle (matte), and Rouge Noir (matte).
Most of Julie Hewett’s lipsticks ($28.00 each) have either a cream or matte finish. I find the cream formula to be the most hydrating, of course, as it contains camellia oil and has a lustrous shine that provides a great amount of moisture to keep lips well hydrated and soft during wear. These cream colors aren’t as pigmented or as long wearing as the matte shades, but they are very comfortable and enjoyable to wear.
The matte colors are my favorite — all of the matte lipsticks that I’ve tried from this collection have never been disappointing. They’re ultra pigmented with a full color coverage that’s rich and bold, and non-drying. I love the intensity and longevity of these colors, and wish that there will be an extension for this formula because it’s amazing!
Overall, I really enjoyed wearing all three of these colors. Although they varied in formulation, these lipsticks all gave a seamless application and had a beautiful color payoff. Whether you’re into a more natural, sheer look or love a vibrant pop of color, these lipsticks are a must-try because they’re gorgeous to look at and are perfectly formulated to help you effortlessly achieve your desired look.
Kiki is a cool-toned pinky mauve with a hydrating cream finish; it has a semi-sheer payoff with a build-able coverage.
Michelle is a matte raspberry; it’s highly pigmented, but tugs slightly on the lips during application.
Rouge Noir is a matte bright red; it has minimal shine with a gorgeous full color coverage.
