I’m so incredibly over the moon to be introducing you all to Becca Cosmetics’ new ultra luscious lipsticks — Lush Lip Colour Balms ($22.00 each). The collection consists of eight shades that range from a peachy nude to a pretty pink to a vampy plum. These lip colors have a hybrid formula that combines the creamy pigmentation of a lipstick with the lightweight, nourishing texture of a lip balm to give you the best of both worlds.
I was immediately drawn in by the breathtaking packaging of these lipsticks — the lucid tube is so stunning and chic!
The lipsticks have an amazingly soft and weightless texture with a customizable coverage — swipe the lipstick on once to enhance natural lip color or layer the lipstick on for full coverage. The jojoba oil infused formula is very comfortable, providing plenty of hydration to keep lips smooth and nourished throughout the day. These colors do have some slip to them, so longevity will depend on what you eat or drink; I was able to get three hours of wear without eating before needing to reapply.
There was also some variation with the application of the three darkest shades in the collection (Toasted Hazelnut, Cherry Ganache, Black Violet) as they applied on slightly uneven and streaky compared to the other five colors. Dark colors are the most tricky to formulate, so I wasn’t too shocked that these shades didn’t have a consistent payoff. The streakiness of these three colors doesn’t bother me much since they still give a nice coverage and because I’m quite in love with these dark hues, I will still wear them regardless. The lighter shades can be worn all year round, but I definitely see myself gravitating towards the darker colors in fall/winter when I’m yearning for deep, hydrating colors with a soothing formula that will be extra beneficial to my dry lips.
Overall, I really enjoy the silky and supple finish of these lipsticks. The shade selection and conditioning formula are fantastic — they’re super soft and lush, and apply on seamlessly to give a lovely pigmentation with a hint of sheen for a highly moisturizing finish that’s very enjoyable to wear.
