You have no idea how excited I am to finally share these amazing goodies from OCC Makeup with you! I’ve been resisting playing with them, so I can feature them in my YouTube unboxing video and now that that’s out of the way, I got right to swatching!
The original Lip Tars used to come in a squeeze-tube packaging and needed to be applied with a brush. The new RTW (ready-to-wear) packaging is a lot more convenient and easier for application since it has a doe-foot applicator, but after playing around with these products, I wish I got the colors in their original packaging. Personally, I feel like the old packaging makes the products so much more unique and even though it might be a bit difficult to apply on-the-go, it was fun and different when compared all of the other lip products on the market.
I have six Lip Tars ($17.00 each for 4 g) in all neutral, wearable shades that include Interlace, Hush, Memento, Wish, Plush, and Fleshworld. The colors come in a pretty and sleek transparent packaging with a white twist-off cap and standard doe-foot applicator. The formula was consistent throughout all six lip colors with them being highly pigmented and lightweight. They’re neither watery nor mousse-y, and don’t dry down to a matte finish like other liquid lipsticks; they have a satin finish that’s non-drying and very comfortable to wear. The full coverage is fantastic and your lips will be drenched in opaque color with little effort, but the small applicator doesn’t pick up a lot of the product for a quick application, so a lot of dipping is needed to get the product evenly onto the lips. There was no streakiness or unevenness with any of the colors and they all lasted well over six hours without being drying.
Interlace is a nude peach.
Hush is a lightened peachy coral.
Memento is a medium pink.
Wish is a rosy pink; on my skin tone, this color and Memento are almost identical.
Plush is a deep dusty rose.
Fleshworld is a rusty red.
I also got three glitters ($15.00 each for 2.2 g) in the shades Supernova, Pink, and Mint. They all have a very fine texture that doesn’t feel gritty, and give a beautiful metallic finish. With any loose glitter, these will require a sticky base in order for them to adhere to the skin — I wore these glitters with a glitter adhesive and they applied and stayed on wonderfully. I didn’t have any issues with fall-outs after the initial application and they held up well during the couple of hours that I wore them.
I do want to mention that on the website, it’s stated that these glitters are not for use in the immediate eye area. You can mix the glitters with your body lotion, nail polishes, and hair styling products for a fun, shimmery finish. As always, use at your own discretion and risk.
Supernova is a gorgeous bright coral with a duochrome shift that gives various effects depending on how it’s applied and photographed; it can look gold, pink, or blue when it’s applied on bare skin or on top of a colored base.
Pink is a super pretty solid medium pink.
Mint is a beautiful mint green.
For this spring inspired makeup look, I have on the Supernova glitter on the inner corner and Mint on the lower lash line with the Interlace Lip Tar on my lips.
You see how Supernova looks golden in the photo below when it’s applied on top of a yellow base, but in the swatch photo above, it looks pinkish blue on bare skin (with flash photography) — it’s so freaking cool!
