Rimmel London Magnif’Eyes Eyeshadow Palettes Review, Swatches & Makeup Looks

Rimmel London Magnif'Eyes Eyeshadow Palettes

It’s safe to say that Rimmel London is one of my favorite drugstore brands — their Stay Matte Pressed Powder is my holy grail product and their new matte lipsticks are incredible! Adding to the list of products that I’m fond of are their new Magnif’Eyes Eyeshadow Palettes ($7.99 each for 14.16 g), which comes in three color combinations with a mixture of twelve matte and shimmer colors in each. I have two out of the three palettes in Keep Calm & Wear Gold and London Nudes Calling to review for you today. I also created two makeup looks with these palettes, which you’ll see later on in the blog post.

The eyeshadows are housed in a basic black, clear-lid compact with a 12-pan vertical design. There’s not much to say about the packaging — it’s clean, simple, and practical.

The Keep Calm & Wear Gold eyeshadow palette has a light-to-dark, warm-to-cool structure and features four satin-matte shades and eight shimmer shades. At first glance, I knew that I would like this palette because of the nice variety of colors and finishes. This palette has a great matte-to-shimmer balance, so you have your matte neutral transition colors for the crease and dark deepening colors for the outer V with a ton of glimmering shades in between for a very well-rounded and versatile set of eyeshadows.

These eye colors have a soft and smooth texture with a fairly pigmented color payoff. The formulation was consistent throughout the palette with all twelve shades being incredibly workable — they’re all very easy to apply, blend, and build. There was no unevenness or patchiness as the eyeshadows went on easily and smoothly. When used with a primer, these colors lasted all day with minimal creasing and fading.

I created a very simple cut-crease makeup look using a few colors from the Keep Calm & Wear Gold palette.

Here are the colors that I used (in order of application):

  • Shade #5 – Crease
  • Shade #10 – Crease / Lower Lash Line
  • Shade #11 – Crease / Lower Lash Line
  • Shade #3 – Lid
  • Shade #1 – Brow Bone / Inner Corner

The London Nudes Calling palette has a rosy tone with only one matte color out of the twelve shades, which was kind of a bummer. I wish this palette contained more matte colors like the Keep Calm & Wear Gold palette. Similar to the previous palette, these eyeshadows are very wearable and workable, and were consistently formulated to give a smooth and even color payoff. They adhere well to the eyes and showed no signs of difficulty during blending, a factor that I highly appreciate since I really dislike eyeshadows that don’t blend well. Other than the lack of matte shades, I think these rose-colored hues are so feminine and stunning; the three darkest shades at the right end of the palette will work great for blending out the lash lines or for adding depth to the crease.

I rediscovered my love for lineation with this makeup look. I used a couple of eyeshadows from the London Nudes Calling palette to create this soft cut-crease, then went in with a black liquid eyeliner to amp up the look for more depth and drama.

Here are the colors that I used (in order of application):

  • Shade #4 – Crease
  • Shade #10 – Crease / Lower Lash Line
  • Shade #11 – Crease / Lower Lash Line
  • Shade #5 – Lid
  • Shade #1 – Brow Bone / Inner Corner

My overall thoughts on these eyeshadow palettes is that they have great quality for the super affordable price tag! I really enjoyed working with colors from both palettes, but if I had to choose one out of the two, I would definitely go with the Keep Calm & Wear Gold eyeshadow palette since it contains a nice warm and cool shade range with a great matte to shimmer ratio.

You can purchase these palettes at your local drugstores (US).
