If you didn’t already know, my favorite beauty product to review is lipstick — I’m obsessed with wearing them, collecting them, and photographing them. I love doing swatches and showing you what each color looks like on, and although, lipstick reviews are the most time consuming, they’re very enjoyable for me to do. It’s truly so satisfying when I get to share a full lip collection with you, which is why I’m super ecstatic to be to showing you Rimmel London’s beautiful Stay Matte Liquid Lip Colours in today’s post. I have thirteen colors and missing only one from the collection (500 Fire Starter).
The Stay Matte Liquid Lip Colours ($4.99 each for 6.5 ml) come in an array of shades from neutrals to pinks to brights. The color selection is wonderful and I’m sure you’ll find a shade that’ll fit your preference among so many options. I also really love that the brand included unique and daring shades like 830 Blue Iris, 840 Pitch Black, and 850 Shadow for the risk takers and artistic individuals (these colors would be great for editorial makeup looks). The doe-foot applicator is lovely and distributed the product evenly and easily onto lips.
While the shade range and price point is appealing, the formulation varies from shade to shade and is inconsistent in terms of pigmentation and application. These lip colors have a wonderfully lightweight and creamy consistency, but aren’t saturated enough to give the full coverage that I’m looking for. Some colors gave an even payoff, while others were streaky and patchy; they will require layering to achieve more evenness. On the other hand, these lipsticks have a true matte coloration that do dry down to a smudge-proof and budge-proof finish, and don’t feel drying or uncomfortable. They also don’t accentuate lip lines, which is really nice. They’ll last five to six hours with minimal eating and drinking, but definitely won’t last up to twenty-four hours like they claim to because let’s be honest, what lipstick can last that long without budging?! All in all, I adore these colors and the airy, long wearing formulation, but they lack the intense pigmentation that would have made them amazing. Even though I think the formula needs a bit of tweaking, I still will grab for these shades because the texture feels very nice on and longevity is wonderful!
I recommend shades 200 Pink Blink, 210 Rose & Shine, 820 Heartbeat, and 850 Shadow (these colors are the most pigmented from the collection).
