From liquid to cream to mousse, matte lipsticks have been taking over the makeup industry like an undying storm and it seems that every brand is coming out with their own version. The most recent brand to join my matte collection is Rimmel London with their new The Only 1 matte lipsticks. I talked about the original The Only 1 lipsticks back in October (here), which are highly moisturizing, ultra glossy lip colors, unlike their new sister line, which has the same sleek packaging (but instead of the glossy black, it’s a matte red), but with a whole new matte formula.
I have five out of the ten shades to share with you, and I’ll tell you right now, all of these colors are amazing!
The Only 1 Matte Lipsticks ($7.99 each) are highly pigmented and ultra creamy lip colors that have a matte finish with a light emollient oil to provide moisture and comfort for a non-drying wear. The oil absorbs upon application and creates a thin film between the skin and the pigment to eliminate the dry sensation that often comes with matte lipsticks. These lipsticks apply on smoothly and evenly to give a rich, true-to-color payoff, while also being long wearing. My lips didn’t feel dry at all and I was very impressed with how comfortable these colors wore. I love the intense coverage of these lipsticks and really enjoyed their formula — they’re matte, but aren’t drying, which gives me the best of worlds. I can wear these matte lip colors all year round without fearing that my lipstick will dehydrate my lips and that is quite exciting for a matte lover who hates dry lips! Rimmel nailed it with this collection — I’m obsessed!
120 Call The Shots is a bright, deep strawberry pink; this shade is so beautiful — I fall in love with it every single time that I wear it!
200 Salute is a lovely medium pink; it’s a perfect every day color — not too light, not too dark, just perfect!
600 Keep It Coral is a peachy coral; I definitely see myself gravitating towards this shade once summer comes.
700 Trendsetter is a brownish beige; I think this color would look beautiful on all skin tones.
800 Run The Show is a vibrant purple; I’m so enamored with this color, although, it does apply on a bit streaky.
Which of these colors was your favorite? I love them all, so I can’t pick one! 🙂
