Tarte has one of my favorite powder formulas, so when I saw that they came out with the Clay Play Face Shaping Palette, a multi-functional eye and face palette, I was in heaven! I love a good matte palette, but what sold me about this one was the versatility and functionality of these colors, which can be used to sculpt the eyes, brows, and face. As someone who travels constantly and likes to pack as little makeup as possible, I loved the idea of carrying an all-matte palette with essential colors that can also be used to create a variety of eye looks and also for contouring my face. Needless to say, I saw how gorgeous this palette was in Ulta and grabbed it off the counter in a heartbeat! I’m so happy that I bought it because it’s stunning in every aspect.
The Clay Play Face Shaping Palette ($46.00 for 6 g / 12 g / 18 g) contains twelve multi-tasking matte neutral colors (with one shade having subtle sparkles; Instinct) for defining and contouring features; there are nine neutral-to-dark eyeshadows and three contouring face powders.
I love the layout of this palette; there’s no wasted space with the design, no inclusion of a brush that I’ll never use — something that I highly appreciate. There’s a massive mirror on the inside and a nice assortment of colors that makes the palette look clean and sleek. I notice that Tarte carries this solid design with all of their other palettes as well — another reason why I’m so attracted to their brand.
I’m also quite fond of the chocolate scented formula — it smells so good! The array of colors in this palette is lovely; there’s a blend of light and dark shades, and mixture of warm and cool undertones that include a light ivory and a rich black, which are two essential colors that every neutral palette should have, in my opinion. The powders were consistently formulated with every single shade having a creamy soft texture and rich pigmentation. They swatched beautifully and had a balanced performance, giving an effortless application with evenness and great blend-ability throughout. I’ve worn these colors twice already and had no issues whatsoever with any of these powders. The colors all work well together to give a cohesive finish, while also having minimal fall-outs, which is wonderful. They adhere nicely to the skin, are super easy to work with, and are extremely long lasting. I really enjoyed using these colors and am so impressed with this palette — the presentation, formulation, and performance — everything is superb. The overall verdict is this palette is definitely worth getting! If you’re looking for a basic palette that delivers beautiful results for every day use, and is also great for traveling — this would be a great addition to your collection!

I also used the shade Terracotta to contour my face — that nose contour was so snatched today, I was loving it! 🙂
