The Clarins 742 Joli Rouge Lipstick ($29.00) is a rosy red that’s said to give six hours of non-stop moisture and hold with a creamy, rich formula that deposits an intense color payoff and satin sheen to lips.
Firstly, I love the sleek gold packaging — it’s minimal, but has a very elegant and sophisticated aesthetic that looks and feels ultra luxurious, which I thought fit the brand’s opulent presentation perfectly.
This lipstick has a very soft and creamy texture that feels supple and hydrating, and gives a highly pigmented, full color coverage with little effort. There is something about this formula that just captivates me — it’s unlike any other lipstick that I’ve ever worn.
It has a jelly-like consistency that feels incredibly lightweight and cushiony — I don’t know if I’m making any sense, but it just feels amazing; it’s not flat, streaky, or drying. It glides on with extreme ease, is super hydrating, and is very long wearing. The initial sheen finish wears off after five hours and reveals a beautifully even stain on the lips, prolonging the longevity a little bit longer, which is lovely. Overall, this lipstick lives up to all of its claims; it’s a stunning lipstick all-round — from the moisturizing formula to the rich color payoff — it’s a win in my book!
I’m obsessed with this red lipstick — definitely one of the prettiest reds in my collection.
