It’s not every day that I receive a beautiful metallic box filled with luxurious gold lipsticks from the one and only Estee Lauder. I’m still in shock over this PR package! I don’t even know where to begin or how to articulate my emotions and gratitude towards the Estee Lauder team for sending me such an incredible and generous gift — I’m so speechless and beyond thankful! A million thank you to Margaret and Estee Lauder for making me feel like the luckiest girl in the world! ❤
My jaw dropped upon opening the package to see all thirty stunning Pure Color Love lipsticks meticulously placed in the gold box to reveal a collection that’s not only luxe and chic, but one that contains an incredible array of hues from nudes to brights to cater to everyone’s preferences.
The Pure Color Love Lipstick Collection ($22.00 each) is undeniably aesthetically pleasing with the exquisite gold and clear acrylic packaging that looks and feels luxurious, but it also contains a mixture of finishes like matte, creme, shimmer, and metallic that can worn alone or mixed with one another to create a custom finish.
In this lipstick collection, there are thirteen mattes, nine cremes, five shimmers, and three metallics.
The matte colors have a consistent formulation throughout all of the shades with every color feeling velvety and containing very little shine to give a true matte finish. They apply on smoothly and evenly without tugging on the lips, and are pack with pigment to provide a rich and vibrant color payoff that’s full coverage. I didn’t find any of these colors to be uncomfortable or overly drying — they were enjoyable to wear and are my favorite group of colors as they had the most grip and were extremely long wearing compared to the other three finishes.
There was some variations with the creme colors; while all of the colors have a luscious high-gloss finish and are incredibly hydrating, some shades had a more slippery texture than others, so they didn’t adhere to the lips very well and tend to slide around a lot (i.e. Crazy Beautiful and Pret-A-Party). Although these colors are super comfortable to wear, they wore off after just a couple of hours because of the slick consistency.
Majority of the shimmery shades have ultra fine shimmers that aren’t detectable once the colors have been applied on; the only exception is Flash Chill, which contains beautiful specks of gold and lavender. All five shades have a high-shine finish and are very moisturizing, and only gave me two to three hours of wear.
The three metallic colors are insanely beautiful, glittery, and unique. I love that this collection contains this fun little trio — these colors can be worn on their own for a semi-sheer colored base with intense sparkles or layered with any of the other shades for a customized effect; they pair amazingly well with the matte shades.
It wouldn’t be a review without some swatches, so get ready because I went all out and did all thirty lip colors! This was my biggest swatch session yet and I had so much fun trying on all of these lipsticks! I’ll share with you some of my favorite shades at the end of the blog post.
