My Go-To Makeup Look + Pictorial

Go-To Makeup Pictorial

I want to share with you the go-to makeup look that I always do whether it’s for a formal event or for a day out on the town when I want something that’s effortless, but still glam. This simple look centers around matte brown hues on the eyes with bold lashes, completed with nude lips. I’ve worn this makeup look multiple times already this summer for a wedding back in May and on my getaway to Vermont in June — it’s one of my favorite looks to do and it has never failed me.

Ever since I got to try the IT Cosmetics You Sculpted! Contouring Palette, it has quickly become a favorite of mine! Yes, it’s a face contouring palette, but the buttery smooth shades with amazing pigmentation and blendability makes these beautiful colors perfect as eyeshadows also. It’s a wonderful multi-functional palette that I’ve brought along with me on all of my summer trips away from home and was what I used to get this sultry brown makeup look.

I’ll go over the step-by-step process on how to achieve this look with other product recommendations along the way.

On to the tutorial!

Step 1: Begin by priming the eyes to increase the eyeshadows’ vibrancy and prolong their longevity, then take a tapered blending brush and sweep a matte medium taupe color along the crease (Soft Contour), which will work as the transition color.

Step 2: Take a different blending brush and apply a warm copper brown shade onto the crease; sweep the color back and forth with circular motions.

Step 3: Take a small pointed blending brush to apply a matte dark brown color onto the outer V (Deep Contour).

Step 4: With a flat eyeshadow brush, pat a matte cream shade onto the lid (Matte Highlight).

Step 5: Apply that same matte cream color to the inner corner of the eye, using a small shader brush.

Step 6: Use a pointed pencil brush to buff the matte dark brown shade onto the lower lash line.

Step 7: Tightline the upper water line and lash line with a black kohl eyeliner pencil.

Step 8: Line the upper lash line with a black liquid eyeliner (my all-time favorite is the New York Color Black Liquid Eyeliner), then connect the liner to the outer lower lash line to create more depth and intensity.

Step 9: To complete the eye look, apply a coat of mascara to top and bottom lashes, then apply on a pair of voluminous lashes for a sultry and glam effect. The lashes that I wore for this look are extra bold and glamorous, which I what I usually prefer, but if I want to tone it down a bit for a more wearable look, then I’ll go for a pair like this one here.

Voilà!

I also used the contour palette to add definition to my super round face by applying the Medium Contour shade along my cheekbones, hair line, on the sides of my nose, and on my jaw line; this shade is my favorite for contouring my face — it works beautifully with my skin tone and gives it the perfect amount of warmth (I used the Bdellium Tools 945 Contour Brush).

Once I’ve done my contouring, I’ll apply on a rosy pink blush — Laura Geller’s Rosewater Baked Gelato Vivid Swirl Blush is one of my favorites. The IT Cosmetics contour palette also contains a shimmery highlight color, which is beautiful, but for this look, I opted for my recently acquired (and already in love with) Smoke N Whistles Super Shock Cheek by ColourPop Cosmetics (with the Morphe M510 Pro Round Blender Brush).

On my lips, I wore ColourPop Cosmetics’ Aquarius Lippie Stix.

Sometimes, we all need a little reminder to keep moving forward — my new hand stamped cuff bracelet from Midori Jewelry is a special addition to my collection. The bracelet has the word “perseverance” hand stamped on it to remind me whenever I wear it that dedication, combined with passion will always prevail. I’ve always been a dreamer and a believer — nothing is impossible if your heart desires it and you work continually for it. Anything worth having won’t come easily, but never give up… never let your fears, doubt, and others’ trivial opinions affect you and your dreams. 🙂
