MAC Cosmetics recently sent me a PR package! It has always been a dream of mine to work with MAC, so when their team reached out to me, I was shocked. I still am. I’m incredibly thankful for this amazing opportunity and am so elated to share with you the brand’s gorgeous new Patent Paint Lip Lacquers.
These lip lacquers ($22.00 each for 3.8 g) come in a sleek transparent packaging that features an artistic black paint splatter on the tube with a black twist-off cap that holds a flat doe-foot applicator at the tip. I really like this applicator since it gives a super effortless and precise application.
The six colors that I received are all gorgeous, ranging from a peachy nude to a dramatic dark plum. The formula is a hybrid between a lipstick and a gloss, offering a perfect blend of weightless and saturated color payoff with a hydrating and non-sticky shine. You can say that they’re like a lip cream.
I’m highly impressed with the pigmentation and coverage of these lip lacquers — they’re vivid, opaque, and true-to-color. They also apply on with ease and don’t require a lip liner since the colors hold up nicely and don’t bleed. Of course, adding a lip liner with these lip lacquers will prolong their longevity even more; I especially recommend it with the lighter shades since they tend to fade quicker. The darker colors have better wear time and will leave a subtle residual stain on the lips.
With that said, if you want a luxuriously creamy and lightweight lip color that doesn’t dry out your lips, then you will definitely love these lip lacquers because they provide a gorgeous coloration and instant moisturization that’s truly pleasant and ultra comfortable to wear. On the other hand, if you’re hoping that these lip colors will give you a high impact, ultra glossy effect, then you will be disappointed because the shine factor isn’t as intense as it’s promised to be.
In conclusion, I absolutely love these! I’m a sucker for a bold lip, so the intensity of these colors, plus the lightweight and workable formula is just perfect. I really enjoyed wearing these lip lacquers and am excited to experiment with them more.
