When I saw a bunch of Instagram photos started popping up of Zendaya’s cut-crease makeup look, I knew that I had to join the movement and recreate the beautiful look myself. I’m a total sucker for a bold cut-crease!
This super dramatic and incredibly beautiful purple and blue double cut-crease makeup is one of my favorite looks that I’ve done so far. It required quite a bit of time and patience to do, but it was definitely worth it in the end! I took step-by-step photos of my creation to share with you in the detailed pictorial down below.
Products used:
1: Mehron Fire INtense Pressed Powder Palette | 2: NYX Cosmetics Love Affair with Louis Love in Paris Eyeshadow Palette | 3: Hard Candy Medium Light Glamoflauge Heavy Duty Concealer | 4: Rimmel Creamy Natural Stay Matte Pressed Powder | 5: Jane Cosmetics Sky Blue Water Resistant Eyeliner | 6: New York Color Black Liquid Eyeliner | 7: Tiny Minx Miss Minx Mink Eyelashes | 8: Gerard Cosmetics Nude Lipstick | 9: Gerard Cosmetics Butter Cream Lip Gloss
Brushes used:
1: Makeup Madeup No. 5 Angled Brush | 2: Bdellium Tools 780 Pencil Brush | 3: Makeup Madeup No. 6 Flat Eye Brush | 4: Bdellium Tools 708 Bent Eyeliner Brush | 5: Sofi Cosmetics 350 Pointed Liner Brush | 6: Morphe M507 Pointed Mini Blender Brush
Step 1: Begin by priming the eyes to help increase the eyeshadows’ brightness and longevity, then take a thin angled brush with a matte purple eyeshadow and start sketching out the new crease line; use light strokes when drawing the line so mistakes are easier to fix.
Step 2: Once the line is down, build up the color’s intensity by layering on the purple eyeshadow; then, use a pencil brush to gently blend the color upwards.
Step 3: To cut the crease, take a small flat synthetic brush and a tiny amount of concealer, and trace the concealer underneath the purple eyeshadow to clean up the line for a sharp look.
Step 4: With a clean eyeliner brush, apply a matte setting powder underneath the crease line to set the concealer and prevent it from creasing.
Step 5: Take a pointed eyeliner brush and sketch out the outer wing with a matte black eyeshadow, making sure to leave a small space between the lid color and crease line; then, fill in the empty outer corner with the black eyeshadow.
Step 6: Use a black liquid eyeliner to trace over the black eyeshadow for more intensity; by applying the eyeshadow first, it works as a guidance for the eyeliner placement (messed up eyeshadow is easier to fix than eyeliner).
Step 7: Apply a shimmery blue eyeshadow onto the center of the lid, using the same pointed eyeliner brush.
Step 8: Apply a shimmery mint eyeshadow onto the inner lid.
Step 9: Line the lower water line with a shimmery blue eyeliner.
Tip: If you don’t have a colored eyeliner, line the water line first with a white eyeliner, then apply an eyeshadow on top.
Step 10: Use the pointed eyeliner brush and matte purple eyeshadow to line the lower lash line; extend the color outwards at the end to parallel with the cut-crease.
Step 11: Highlight the brow bone and tear duct with a shimmery pink champagne eyeshadow.
Step 12: Line the upper lash line with a black liquid eyeliner.
Step 13: Apply mascara to top and bottom lashes, then pop on a pair of false eyelashes to finish the eye look.
Voilà!
