I’m obsessed with all things Korean — I love the dramas, music (yes, I’m a massive BTS fan ♡), and makeup! Since I’ve been creating a lot of dramatic makeup looks lately, I wanted to balance things out by sharing a natural look with you today. This look was Korean inspired, meaning it consists of light and dewy skin with soft eyes and a pop of color on the lips. Korean women sport super subtle and minimal makeup, so I tried to keep things as simple as possible. I ended up, unknowingly, creating a monochromatic peachy coral look, which just so happens to coincide with this year’s Pantone Color Of The Year, Living Coral.
I have a fun blog post comparing the differences between Korean and American makeup — check it out here.
When it comes to Korean makeup, it’s all about the dewy skin! No heavy coverage — think of it as a “no makeup” look. To achieve a glowy complexion, I began by priming my face with Erborian’s Glow Creme — it has a pearlescent sheen that instantly brightens and illuminates the skin. Then, I applied their BB Creme — this product is weightless and gives a natural finish. To hide my blemishes, I used the Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer in Light Warm — I love this stuff; it’s ultra lightweight, build-able, and long wearing.
Since I have oily skin, I can’t go without setting my base. I needed a product that would minimize shine, but not completely mattify my skin — the perfect solution to this is the IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Illumination Powder. It feels soft and silky on the skin, works wonderfully at reducing shininess, and gives a subtle radiance.
I have a round face shape, so contouring is always a must in my makeup routine. I used the darkest brown shade from the Be A Light Palette by Becca Cosmetics to lightly contour my face and add warmth to my complexion.
For a pretty pink flush of color on the cheeks, I applied the super cute Love Fantasy Blush (Pink Fantasy) by Holika Holika.
I wanted to keep my eye makeup soft and minimal since K-beauty looks are very light and delicate. I applied a matte light pink eyeshadow onto my lid, then deepen the outer corner and lower lash line with a shimmery coral shade. To add depth, I swept a dark brown eyeshadow onto the outer lower lash line for more definition. Instead of using a black eyeliner, I opted for a brown eye pencil to create a softer effect. I tightlined my waterline and lash line with the brown eyeliner, then set the color by tracing the dark brown eyeshadow over it; this creates a blurred effect that’s subtle and natural. To finish the eyes, I popped on a pair of mink eyelashes that are fluffy and voluminous, but aren’t too dramatic.

For my lips, I lined them with the COVERGIRL Exhibitionist Lip Liner in Caramel Nude, which is a great neutral brown color; then, I applied a lovely coral lipstick in the shade OR204 by my favorite Korean beauty brand, Etude House.
This is such a pretty look and it’s great for every day! The subtlety is a nice change from the bold looks I have been wearing.
