Ever since Stila Cosmetics revamped their line and came out with the Eyes Are The Window Eyeshadow Palettes with an all-matte version called Mind, I’ve always wanted to get my hands on it, but never got around to purchasing this palette until a few months ago. I’ve been a fan of Stila ever since my first eyeshadow palette from them, which was also an all-matte palette called In The Know — a favorite of mine to this day.
The Mind Eyes Are The Window Eyeshadow Palette ($49.00 for 14.8 g) has a beautiful, sleek gold packaging with a full-sized mirror and contains twelve ultra luxe matte eyeshadows. There’s a combination of warm and cool tones with classic must-haves like a cream for highlighting and a rich black for deepening the lash lines.
As expected, this eyeshadow palette did not disappoint. The assortment of colors in this palette is perfect — the varying undertones can be mix and match to create a variety of different looks. These colors are all very wearable, usable, and are extremely well-formulated. They have a soft texture, are richly pigmented, and are effortless to work with. They apply on readily and are so blend-able and build-able; there was no patchiness or unevenness, and they give a rich, true-to-color payoff that doesn’t crease or fade. These eyeshadows do have some kickback in the pans, but it’s nothing alarming since there’s no heavy fall-outs during application. Overall, I love this palette and if you’re a fan of matte neutral colors like I am, then this palette is definitely worth getting!
Here’s a comparison of the Mind palette (left) next to my old In The Know palette (right). The eyeshadow pans are identical in size for both palettes with similar shades that go from light to dark.
The Mind eyeshadow palette contains the following shades:
- Brilliance – cream
- Imagination – pale pink
- Genius – nude peach
- Understanding – dusty rose
- Instinct – dark gray
- Observation – mauve taupe
- Wit – apricot
- Perception – rusty orange
- Reason – black (with fine sparkles)
- Thinker – deep plum
- Creativity – chocolate brown
- Intellect – reddish brown
I don’t wear cool tones often, so I thought I’d switch it up for this look (the mint color on my tear duct and cheekbones is Lorac’s Limelight Light Source Illuminating Highlighter).
I used the colors:
- Understanding – Crease
- Instinct – Crease / Lower Lash Line
- Reason – Crease / Lower Lash Line
- Thinker – Outer Lid
- Brilliance – Brow Bone
Have you tried this palette? I couldn’t be more in love! I’m such a sucker for any matte palette that has a rusty orange in it!
